Xiaomi Mi Max 2 With 5300mAh Battery Launched: Price, Release Date, Specifications

Xiaomi, as promised, on Thursday unveiled the successor to the Mi Max phablet, the Mi Max 2, at an event in China. For now, price and availability details have not been revealed, but stay tuned, as the event is still going on.
The all-new Mi Max 2, much like its predecessor, features a massive 6.44-inch display which is yet again the biggest highlight of the smartphone. Apart from a massive screen, the Mi Max 2 also packs a large 5300mAh battery.
Xiaomi at the China launch claimed that the Mi Max 2 comes with improved one-handed use which means that the phone will come with software feature that improve usability. The company has also opted for a discreet antenna lines on the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 which look reminiscent to iPhone 7. For a better hand feel, the new Mi Max 2 also comes with rounded edges.

Similar to the original Mi Max, the Mi Max 2 packs an all-metal body, and Xiaomi claims that it follows a symmetrical design with charging port and speaker grilles placed at the bottom panel. The Mi Max 2 also supports fast charging that means the phone will get charged up to 68 percent in just one hour. The Chinese company is claiming a two-day battery life for the Mi Max 2.
The Mi Max 2 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and dual-LED flash. The company is using a Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels for better handling of different lighting situations. Xiaomi says that the Mi Max 2 comes with an identical primary image sensor to the one seen on the Mi 6. Xiaomi claimed last year that it shipped 1.5 million units of the Mi Max within two months of its launch in China. The Mi Max 2 thus has big shoes to fill and if rumours are to be believed, it will not disappoint. The smartphone is expected to come in two variants - one with 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 626 SoC for CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs 14,000) and a high-end model with 6GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 660 SoC for CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs 15,990),

On the imaging front, the smartphone is expected to come with a 12MP rear camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor paired with a 5MP front camera. Additionally, the smartphone is set to come with a sizeable 5,349mAh battery, a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, a fingerprint sensor at the back and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.
On the cards is also a 128GB variant of the smartphone. The event is scheduled to start at 2pm CST (11:30 am IST) and can be followed live here. An Indian launch of the smartphone seems likely in the coming months, considering the fact that the original made its way into the country. On the imaging front, the smartphone featured a 16MP PDAF rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 paired with a 5MP front camera. Prices ranged from Rs 14,999 to Rs 19,999.
