Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Mi 6 may be launched in India in next month

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi recently launched its Mi Home official store and Redmi 4 smartphone in India. Now, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain’s tweets appear to hint at the upcoming launch. The tweet seems to suggest that the company is planning to announce an another big launch in the country in July. Jain wrote in his tweet- “23 Jan: 250K+ #RedmiNote4. 23 Mar: 250K+ #Redmi4A. 23 May: 250K+ #Redmi4?? Any suggestions on what we should do on 23rd July? @XiaomiIndia”.
Xiaomi India chief did not reveal any name of the smartphone that will be launched in the country, but we can expect it could be the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (China) or the flagship smartphone Mi 6. To recall, the Mi Max was launched in India in July last year, so the timeframe matches as well. On the other hand, Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone Mi 6, which was launched in China last month. Also, Xiaomi launched the predecessor Mi 5 in India in April 2016, so its successor is now in the company’s launch list.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been launched in China in two variants – Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage version, and Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage version. As for pricing, Mi Max 2 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant is priced at CNY 1699 (approx. Rs. 16,000) and 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant which will cost you CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs. 19,000). In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi 6 was launched in China in last month with the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM priced at CNY 2,499 (approx. Rs. 23,500), while the 6GB RAM model with 128GB storage variant was priced at CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs. 27,000). There is also a Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic Edition, which has been launched in China at a price tag of CNY 2,999 (approx. Rs. 28,000) and comes with 6GB RAM.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 specifications and features:
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 sports a 6.4-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, Mi Max 2 is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. Talking about its software fronts, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. The phablet also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.

In the terms of photography, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 rear sensor with an f/2.2 aperture ,1.25-micron pixels, Dual LED flashlight, PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) support. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 85-degree wide-angle lens for better group selfie and video calling. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also features an IR Blaster (infrared sensor) that can be used as a universal remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.
In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers various connectivity options including 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi, WiFi hotspot, GPS/AGPS/Glonass, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm Audio port, IR blaster, USB OTG, and a USB Type-C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and E-Compass and Gyroscope sensor. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is fuelled by a massive 5300mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to two days of battery life. The battery supports Qualcomm’s Quick charge 3.0 which can charge the device up to 68% within 1 hour. The handset measures 174.1 x 88.7 x 7.6mm and weighs 211 grams.
Xiaomi Mi 6 specifications and features:
As for Xiaomi Mi 6, the device features a 5.15-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Xiaomi Mi 6 has an integrated blue light filter to adjust blue light emission to reduce eye strain. The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a four-sided 3D curved glass design on the front and back with stainless steel frame in between. The device is powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz (10nm process technology) paired with Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics. The device is backed by 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of internal storage. On the software front, Xiaomi Mi 6 runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also a splash-resistant phone and sports a fingerprint scanner for biometric security, which embedded just under the Home Button.

In terms of optics, Xioami Mi 6 comes with dual-rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel sensors. One camera sports a 12-megapixel sensor with wide angle lens and 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), while other camera comes with a 12-megapixel with telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for video calling and capturing selfies.
In terms of connectivity, Xioami Mi 6 offers 2.2 dual Wi-Fi technology which allows for better and wider connectivity. Connectivity options also include dual-SIM with dual-standby, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz/5GHz), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, Stereo speakers, and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint (front-mounted), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, and Proximity sensor. The Xioami Mi 6 is fuelled by a decent non-removable 3350mAh Li-Po battery, paired with MIUI optimisations.
Design and Display:
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 contains the 6.44-inch full HD resolution display. Its display is same as the original Mi Max smartphone. Mi Max also has a larger 6.44-inch size display for the video consumption.
Max 2 measures 174.1mm in length, 88.7 mm in breadth and 7.6mm in width. It weighs about 211g. It is slightly heavier than the original Mi Max. Mi Max has the dimensions as the 173.1mm x 88.3mm x 7.5mm and it weighs 230g. There are the antenna bands on the back of the Mi Max 2 smartphone. These are more muted when we compare it to the original Mi Max. Manufacturers placed stereo speakers on the bottom of the Mi Max. Max 2 has the fingerprint scanner at the back same as in Mi Max smartphone.
Coming to the design measurements, Mi Max 2 is the winner as it weighs less than original Mi Max.

Processor:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor runs the Max 2. Manufacturers clocked it with 2.0GHz. This processor has a 14nm FinFET design.
In original Mi Max Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor runs it.
Mi Max is the winner regarding processor.

Storage:

For storage purpose, Mi Max 2 uses 4GB RAM. It has the 64GB and 128GB of internal storage variants. Users can expand the storage further up to 128GB using microSD card.
Mi Max contains the 3GB RAM and has the internal storage about 32GB. Users can extend the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.
Here the winner is Mi Max 2 if we took space into consideration.

Camera:

A 12 mega-pixeled camera is present on the rear side of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. It has Sony IMX386 sensor along with 1.25μm large pixels, which helps the users to boost the low-light performance. On the front side of the camera on Max 2, it has the 5MP camera with 85-degree wide-angle view. Mi Max 2 is still making a significant improvement on the front camera.
The original Mi Max contains the 16MP camera on the rear side. Users can use this camera for the phase detection autofocus. A 5MP with f/2.0 lens is present on the front side.
The winner is the Mi Max regarding the camera.

Battery:

A 5300 mAh battery with Type-C USB charging and Quick Charge 3.0 equips the Max 2. In just one hour Max 2 can charge up to 68 percent. Xiaomi will give the two-day battery life with Mi Max 2 with 57 hours of talk time and 18 hours of video playback.
Xiaomi Mi Max comprises a 4850 mAh battery. there will be a regular micro-USB charging port. Manufacturers are trying to include a Quick Charge feature at least in the Indian version of Mi Max.
If we took battery into consideration, Mi Max 2 is the winner.

OS:

Android Nougat runs Max 2. The company is planning to include ‘Split screen’ feature along with ‘One-handed mode.’ Android Marshmallow runs the original Max.

Price:

The price of Mi Max is Rs 14,999 while Mi Max 2 costs about Rs 15,900. The another variant of Max 2 with 128 GB costs about Rs 18,000.

The Final Verdict:

If you are looking to buy a phone within the low price then go for Mi Max it has excellent features in camera and processor. Mi Max 2 is the best smartphone with the more features than the original Max and it has the reasonable price.
